The Vancouver Women’s Caucus is well-known for initiating the abortion caravan and shutting down Parliament for the first time in Canadian history, but equally significant was its socialist bent, seeking radical change for working women and hosting a peace conference with Indo-Chinese women.

The Vancouver Women’s Caucus History Project aims to investigate, record and document the history (by the women who created it) of one of the earliest women’s liberation groups in Canada.  Our goal is to collect as much original material as available, conduct interviews with the women involved, and assess our work from today’s viewpoint.

Our plan is to make that history widely available to the public, particularly young women, through this comprehensive website that informs and, we hope, inspires others in defining a feminism that continues to improve the status of women in society today.
